Colin Wilson books

I just listed some Colin Wilson books on eBay.  I will be listing more soon.  I can’t list all of my collection since some of them have heavy underlining.

If you don’t know who Colin Wilson is, he is a famous author of books on philosophy, true crime, the occult, science fiction, and sex.  His very first book was called “The Outsider” and was an instant success. He wrote it while being essentially homeless.  It was a study of people who reached what I would call enlightenment.  Actually, it would better be described as an advancement in philosophical theory in which he includes eastern, (Hindu and Buddhist), theory in with western philosophy.

P.S.  His science fiction books are based upon Edmund Husserl’s work with Phenomenology!

Ebook site temporarily down

My eBook site is temporarily down while it is being upgraded.

It should be back up in a couple of days.  Better than ever.

They say that I should delete everything in my root directory and then upload the new site into it, but I have a lot of things in the root directory that are not related to eBooks, so I don’t want to do this.

There has to be another solution.  Wish me luck.

Do You Want To Remember?

Do You Want to Remember? by LemBook.com

Here are nine ways for you to learn almost anything.

  1. Repeating a paragraph to yourself.
    1. Study a paragraph and then close your eyes and try to repeat the paragraph in your own words. I used this method in college with great success, unless the course wasn’t taught with a textbook, then I would get into trouble since I usually skipped all of my classes J
    2. Make sure that you can pick out the main point in the paragraph.

  2. Mind mapping.
    1. Use a computer program or just do it freehand. Tony Buzan is probably the top expert in using this method.
    2. Use concept mapping. FreeMind is a good program for free.

  3. Holistic learning.
    1. Ask “What does this remind me of?” Relate the information to what you already know.
    2. Form models and constructs.

  4. Underlining.
    1. Examine each paragraph and determine what it is trying to say and then find the words in the paragraph that convey this and underline them. Then go on to the next paragraph.
    2. Occasionally a paragraph will have two or more main points. Be sure to watch out for this and underline these also.

  5. Outlining.
    1. Write down the headings and subheadings that the author used when writing the chapter. Make them into an outline. Unfortunately, many books have a messed up outline. See if you can make a better one.
    2. One trick is to underline all the headings in a chapter, but use one color for the main headings and a different color for the subheadings.

  6. Read aloud.
    1. Read the material out loud. Be dramatic about it. But emotion into it.
    2. Another way is to read it rhythmically or read it to music. Sing it out loud.

  7. Research.
    1. Google the subject and review many different versions of the subject by different authors.
    2. Expand your knowledge around the subject. Place it into context.
    3. Buy more than one book about the subject.

  8. Take notes.
    1. Rewrite the material in your own words.
    2. Read the material into a tape recorder and then play it back when doing chores.

  9. Review.
    1. Review the material in 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, etc
    2. Write out everything that you know about the subject without looking at your notes and then compare it with your notes to find out what you missed. Study that.

Don’t let people steal your money!

I doubt if it happens very often, but why take a chance.  Everyone should cloak their links, not just to be safe, but to look professional.

I know it’s a pain and just one more thing to do, but I have a free cloaker for you which is about as easy as it gets.  If you click on the “Help” button it takes you to  a website where there is a video on how to use it.  Nothing could be easier.  Of course, there is also printed documentation.

Just click here to get Randy Smiths – Cool Easy Cloaker  for FREE.

P. S. Next week I will be putting up for sale a few dozen used true crime paperbacks on my eBay site.

P. P. S.  If you’re wondering why I haven’t added any new eBooks lately, it’s because I’m waiting for my site upgrade.  It’s coming soon.  Just a little longer.  A week or two.  Go read a book or something :)

MyDD is fixed. Thanks Socrates

While I knew that I could eventually get the new version of MyDD installed I decided to let Socrates’ team do it.  My time is better spent serving you, my customers, by loading up more books on my site.  ( See my eBay site for more used books.)

By the way, Socrates was extremely fast.  Excellent service.  It took less than 24 hours for them to upgrade my site.

New MyDD by Socrates

I just tried to install the new version of MyDD.  Everything seemed to go well except the home page still lists the old version number.

When I look at FileZilla all the MyDD files have the new date.  I wonder what I did wrong.

Anybody else having problems?
